ESHE 2026 Meting, Burgos
The 16th annual ESHE meeting will be held in person in Burgos, Spain, in collaboration with CENIEH.
The meeting is supported by the City Council of Burgos in collaboration with the Museum of Human Evolution.
Burgos will host the 16th Annual Meeting of the European Society for the Study of Human Evolution (ESHE), one of the leading international scientific meetings in the field of human evolution, bringing together around 400 researchers and specialists from universities, research centres and institutions worldwide.
Organised in collaboration with CENIEH, the meeting is made possible with the strong support of Burgos City Council, through ProBurgos, together with the collaboration of the Museum of Human Evolution (MEH) and the Atapuerca Research Team (EIA).
The meeting will open on Wednesday, 16 September, at 6:30 p.m. with the public keynote lecture “The Names of European Prehistory”, given by José María Bermúdez de Castro, Honorary Researcher at CENIEH and member of the Real Academia Española (RAE). The lecture will be accompanied by simultaneous interpreting into English and sign-language interpretation.
The programme includes podium presentations, Pecha Kucha sessions and posters, as well as activities at CENIEH and the Museum of Human Evolution and an excursion to the Atapuerca archaeological sites.
