- Digital microscopy HIROX HRX-02 & camera HRX-CAM (Hirox)
Activities
Leica stereomicroscopes coupled with digital cameras allow photographic imaging using focus stacking. The resulting image is sharp throughout the object’s depth of field and is produced by combining multiple photographs taken at regular vertical intervals.
The HRX-02 digital microscope is capable of high-resolution imaging of palaeontological specimens. It enables focus-stacking imaging through motorized Z-axis movement and also allows images to be captured with the stand tilted. The microscope incorporates a confocal system for surface acquisition and high-resolution 3D measurements.
These microscopy facilities are dedicated to the study and photographic imaging of small fossil specimens (less than 5 mm).
Funding
Equipment funded by the CNRS, the University of Poitiers, and the 2021–2027 State–Region Planning Contract (EENVI programme).
