PALEVOPRIM is a joint research unit of the CNRS and the University of Poitiers, founded in 2000 and bringing together a team of more than 30 members. Our research explores the evolution of vertebrate faunas and ecosystems, particularly during the Cenozoic Era.
Combining expertise in phylogenetics, paleoecology, paleoenvironments, and functional morphology, we investigate the processes that have shaped past biodiversity. A major focus of our work is the evolutionary history of primates and their place within changing ecosystems through time.
Supported by state-of-the-art facilities and continuously developing methodological expertise, PALEVOPRIM is able to conduct the entire research process in-house, from fossil discovery and field data collection to advanced imaging, digital reconstruction, and quantitative analyses.
