lea.pothier[at]univ-poitiers.fr Research objective I seek to understand the ecological evolution of large herbivores during the last interglacial (Eemian, 130,000–115,000 years before present) in order to propose conservation or management strategies in the face of current climate warming. Topics of study My research aims to reconstruct the ecology of large herbivores during the Eemian, a warm period analogous to current climate warming. By studying fossil teeth and mandibles of these species, I use a multi-proxy approach (geometric morphometrics, stable isotopes, dental wear, metabolomes) to reconstruct their diet, habitat use, and ecology. Understanding how these animals responded to the climate warming of that time provides a baseline free of human influence, with the ultimate goal of guiding wildlife conservation and management in the face of current climate change.
