Research support mission
My work involves organizing field missions and associated excavations, particularly in Southeast Asia. The search for new sites in the region’s sedimentary basins (Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Laos) is of paramount importance and requires an extensive network of communication with the regional Earth sciences community.
Activities
This implies obtaining the permission of work from the authorities and also from the land and mine owners.
During the field trip, I coordinate the contribution of the different participants to the paleontological surveys to which I contribute actively.
I supervise the work of preparation and casting of the main discoveries, as well as the complete inventory of the recovered fossils.
I organize the work between the different researchers according to their specialties in order to coordinate the studies.
Contribution to research
My work interest concerns the evolutionary history of Primates in southeastern Asia and the contribution of this province in the evolution of anthropoids during the Paleogene, of apes (orangutan lineage), and of the primitive strepsirrhine and tarsiiform primates.
Main field site
In that context, I direct the French-Thai Paleontological Mission.
